Together, Alone

The snow falls delicately onhb_JP2453.jpg

the umbrella

that I carry with both hands.

We’re walking together

in the snow,

not smiling,

but happy.

We’ve been walking

for longer than the snow

has been

falling.

The tree behind me

drops snow

like leaves

off of its branches.

The whiteness of the frozen ground

around us

would be blinding,

but I am only focused

on the man next to me.

Happiness

is the two of us

walking together,

alone.

I liked the lines , “The whiteness of the frozen ground around us would be blinding, but I am only focused on the man next to me.” I like this line because I never thought of snow being blinding but the snow in the artwork is so white that it really could be blinding. I liked that the poem was in the point of view of one of subjects whereas it might be more commonly written in the perspective of the viewer. This poem gives off a sort of meaning or deeper meaning that even when your in certain circumstances some of your closest family or friends can easily take over the bad feelings and make everything feel okay.
